Homesteading
I'm going to help my daughter and her family learn to homestead a mini farm so I have plans to let them take over the "big" house and I'm going to try and find or build a little bitty house out back in the woods. I've found out that there are little classrooms that the schools sell off when they get their classrooms built inside the school and I understand you can pick them up dirt cheap. What does that say about government waste??? But anyway a one room classroom could be turned into a perfect little house. I'm going Saturday to see what they look like inside and see if I can get one pulled over to our farm. More later on the cost and what it looks like inside...
Rain
It rained last night lo and behold. The heat and intense humidity is a killer though! But I am proud it rained for our little town. I ordered baby chicks just a week or so ago and they are having trouble with the heat too. Now I know why for sure you order them in the early spring down here in the south! Poor little chickies! We have a dog, Hercules, and the name describes him perfectly, but anyway he wallered on one of the baby chicks that got loose the other day, and the little feller is doing fine today. White Rocks are a very hardy breed of chicks and I recommend them for anyone who wants to start a backyard chicken pen. They are fast growers and can stand the heat and keep right on growing, and even a mauling from a BIG doggy.

Starr Weather
Has anyone ever noticed how the storms, and the rain circles Starr as if there's almost a circle of some strange components that will not let the weather pattern engulf the town? I've watched this phenomenon now for five years and it is not my imagination. I wonder if there's a secret source underground that is causing the skies to stay clear when everywhere else it's pouring rain??
